Avocado is grown in the Andean Region between 1,800 and 2,500 meters above sea level. In Ecuador about 20 varieties are cultivated, among which the traditional and hass predominate. The pulp can be used to prepare high quality edible oils, margarines, guacamole, dehydrated, among others.

Producing, cultivating and exporting avocado generates 20,497 jobs nationwide.

Currently around 18,232 tons of avocado are produced.

The main export markets are Spain, Hong Kong, Italy, United States and Netherlands.
