Its production is concentrated in the Palora canton, province of Morona Santiago, where in 1968 the producer Félix Miguel Zabala found a wild cactus from which a beautiful flower was born, which gave a fruit called “Pitahaya”, and which turned out to be of a pleasant flavor
Contains vitamins C, B1 and B3; total tannins and polyphenols.
It has anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant action, in addition to laxative activity consumed with the seeds.
